The Tassimo Brewbot T65 is an advanced brewing machine which does much more than what an ordinary coffee maker can. It is a single serve beverage system manufactured by Bosch. The Brewbot can create various hot beverages including hot chocolate, coffee, espressos, lattes, and cappuccinos.

Pros and Cons of the Brewbot T65

The T65 is different from other Brewbots. This unit has an LCD display which gives perfect instructions regarding the steps to brewing. It lets the user know exactly where the beverage is in the brewing process. The instructions are given in five languages. These include English, German, Italian, French, and Spanish. It also has three little lights which illuminate the cup stand. This makes seeing where to place the cup easy, even in the dark. The T65 switches off automatically if it has not been used in the last five minutes. This is helpful on those busy days when shutting off a coffee pot is the last thing to remember. All these features make the Brewbot T65 a great asset to any kitchen.

The main advantage of this brewer over other standard coffee makers is the ability to create coffee-house quality, single serving beverages at a touch of a button right in the home. The unique unit works with special discs, called T-discs, which contain precisely measured amounts of the dry ingredients of each beverage which are already prepackaged. The Tassimo T-discs are completely sealed and are only opened when they are punctured for use. The disc is placed in the brewer and after the water enters the disc the brewing begins. Contents from the disc are then poured into the cup. This is convenient because after one drink is made, another completely different drink can be made without any need for cleaning or changing of parts. The used disc is removed and another replaces it, allowing different drinks to be made one right after another. The unit is about 12″ tall and can easily fit on a countertop. While costs vary according to different models, the T65 brewbot can be purchased for under $200.

One disadvantage of the T65 Brewbot is the need to continue to purchase the T-discs. Discs can cost anywhere from $5 up to $12 a package depending upon the type and blend of beverage. This is more costly than simply buying a can of coffee, but is definitely cheaper than stopping at your local coffee shop every morning.  T-discs can be purchased at many department stores such as Target and Walmart. However, all Brewbots and other brands of brewers use the same or a similar type of flavored packet.

Tassimo offers a few different models for their brewing system. The T25 model is lightweight and smaller and comes in white or black. It is geared towards use in apartments and dorm rooms. It is cheaper averaging about $130. The Suprema model costs about $170 and has chrome details on the on/off switch and operation button. It also includes a stainless steel drip tray.

How Does The Brewbot T65 Compare To Other Brands?

There are several other brands of single serving brewers on the market. Many manufacturers which are popular for making coffee makers have also begun making these units. Mr. Coffee is one such brand which is similar to Tassimo. Mr. Coffee uses k-cups instead of T-discs but the idea is basically the same. However, the price is comparably less at only around $80. Braun also makes a specialty brewer. This brewer which is cheaper and looks similar to Tassimo’s has a loud brewing noise, is known for spilling water back into the cup when the brewing is finished, has a slower time for the unit to heat up and brewing of the beverage is also slower. The Bunn “My Café” Coffee Pod Brewer is high-tech and powerful. The unit has a sleek design and is capable of making soups and hot cereal which other brands do not advertise. The drawback with the Bunn brewer is the high price tag of almost $400.

When choosing a brewing machine it is important to compare brands and models. Some critical things to consider are the features including LED lighting, digital display, and temperature ranges. Also, consider how long it takes for the unit to heat and how quickly the beverage can be made. Check to see how loud the brewer is when it is operating and how easy it is to clean. Consider the total price of the unit as well as how expensive the flavor packets are and where they can be purchased. Tassimo’s T65 machine appears to be a quality unit at a fair price.  The machine is stunning while remaing affordable, and the T-disks can be found at your common grocery store.
